Ingrid Newkirk
http://ingridnewkirk.com/
Since co-founding People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals 21 years ago, Ingrid Newkirk has emerged as one of the shining lights of the animal rights movement. Through the use of shock tactics and a continuing series of controversial media campaigns, Newkirk and PETA have been able to effect change where other animal rights activists have failed miserably. Although criticized at one point or another by seemingly everybody under the sun, PETA nevertheless has a world-wide membership of over 300,000 activists and continues to be one of the most visible animal rights organizations in the world.Chris Barry, Montreal Mirror

a wonderful woman

Agnes B is the largest payer in the French fashion. Since the group in 1979, Agnes is committed to "made in France".
Agnès b. defends made in France
I have no ambition,' she says, when I ask her the secret of her success and staying power, 'I don't ever plan things. I still have that Sixties attitude of living for today. I think, I draw, I design. I am not influenced by other fashion designers. I don't go to the fashion shows. I never look at any fashion magazines. I don't even go into the fashionable shops. Ever. Fashion does not interest me, only style.'

amazing women

I want to celebrate amazing women until the end of the year
yes we all are
here is one
CHRISTINE SCHULER-DESCHRYVER, HUMAN RIGHTS ACTIVIST: Schuler-Deschryver runs City of Joy, a centre for survivors of gender violence in Bukavu, the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The centre has become a haven for survivors in a country known as the 'rape capital of the world'. Schuler-Deschryver tells the story of Jeanne, a 24-year-old from the rural interior of Africa’s second largest country, who arrived after receiving terrible injuries from repeated gang rapes. 'She has changed her name to Jane,' says Schuler-Deschryver, a Belgian/Congolese woman who set up the centre with activist and playwright Eve Ensler. 'She tells me Jeanne was the woman in pain who she left behind in the hospital; now she’s a new person, healed and reinvented, so we should call her Jane. It is as if she has been reborn.'
